Stuart Bishop has proven himself to be one of the most effective leaders in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Over the past 8 years, he has represented the people of Lafayette, Broussard and Youngsville, protecting our families and helping to grow our businesses.
Stuart has served:
• as Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environment
• on Appropriations Committee
• on Joint Legislative Committees on Capital Outlay
• on the House Labor and Industrial Relations Committee
• on House and Government Affairs
• on Commerce
Stuart has sponsored over 80 pieces of legislation that have been passed
into law.
• Securing funds:
– $11 Million for the Youngsville Sports Complex
– $14.7 Million for the Lafayette Airport
– $150 Million for the I-49 Extension
• Introduced legislation to require public schools to add litter prevention
and awareness instruction.
• Instrumental in establishing snapper as a gamefish and ensuring good
stewardship of Louisiana’s coastal resources
Stuart and his wife Kim have 2 sons, Tre and Cooper. He is Co-Owner of
Baldwin Redi-Mix, a graduate of LSU, an avid outdoorsman and has always
strived to improve his community through volunteer service and civic
participation.
